Assessment

ASSESSMENT

It is important to us that you understand the process involved in your initial assessment. This will help you feel more comfortable in attending one of our clinics for the first time.

WHAT HAPPENS AT MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?

MEETING YOUR SPECIALIST

Shortly after you arrive for your first appointment at Precision’s Spine and Pain Clinic, you will be met by one of our pain specialists or musculoskeletal physicians.

Your specialist will ask you about any symptoms you may be experiencing and will perform a physical examination. Any x-rays or scans that you may have had will be reviewed at this time.

TESTS

Your specialist may order further scans or tests in order to determine the most likely cause of your pain.

Spinal problems and chronic pain are often quite complex and your specialist will want to make sure that he or she has provided a thorough investigation of your condition. From here you may be referred to another specialist within the clinic who has specific expertise in the type of condition that you are experiencing.

DIAGNOSIS

After a diagnosis has been made, your specialist will discuss your treatment options with you. At the Precision Spine and Pain Clinic it is important to us that you be involved in the decision making process and your specialist will be available to talk you through it.

TREATMENT

The main aim of our treatment is to get you better with the least invasive treatment possible. This could involve having some injections, or being cared for by our physiotherapist, exercise physiologist, psychologist or clinical Pilates expert. In some cases rest and/or specific exercises may be all that is required.

If your condition is more complicated, your situation may be discussed in a case conference. This is where several of our specialists sit down together and share their expertise to try to find a solution for you.

SUPPORT

It’s important to us that you feel supported and cared for during your time with us. Whichever path you choose to take, you can rest assured that you will be treated with respect and compassion, whilst at the same time receiving state-of-the-art medical care.
